This thesis was the result of fieldwork I did in the winter of 1995 in the Negev desert in Israel. By this thesis I got my M.A. degree in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. As an introduction  you will find an article based on this thesis in Dutch.
